Chief Justice Of India (we need more courts)

PATNA: Chief Justice of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan on Saturday said more courts are needed for disposal of pending cases. Laying the stone of a

seminar hall-cum-auditorium of Patna Law College on the occasion of its centenary celebrations, the CJI said as many as 350 murder cases are filed in Delhi city every year. Of them, hardly 225 are disposed of. Thus, more than 1000 cases pile up in a span of one decade. The CJI said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recently wrote to him, pleading for more CBI special courts to deal with corruption cases. At least four such courts would be set up in Bihar soon, he said. There are at present two CBI courts in the state.
